Barbara Jaffe, the woman behind Barbara’s company and products was a visionary. Inspired with the phenomenon of healthy eating, she opened a small natural bakery in Northern California. Her main aim for running the bakery was to offer some wholesome and delicious food. She emphasized on using oats and whole grains as nature intended and kept all her ingredients free from anything artificial. The selection of ingredients was done carefully in order to select only vital minerals and vitamins to provide healthy food benefits.
Following this objective, the small storefront bakery turned into a flourishing wholesale business. More than forty years ago, they could only offer loaves, however with time they are able to offer you cereals, cookies, snack bars, cheese puffs and crackers.
Even after all these years, the trend is still followed. The commitment to carry on the business with natural ingredients for healthy people continues and they offer the most delicious natural products that are free from artificial ingredients, flavors and preservatives, refined white sugar and hydrogenated oils.
All Barbara’s cereals are made with Barbara’s time-tested recipes using the best that nature has to offer, such as fruit juice, whole grains, flax, honey, and more. With a strong commitment Barbara opened a bakery but with a slightly different approach of healthy food with delicious taste, her business is still flourishing in North California. Even today, the company is run on the same principles set by the founder of making delicious recipes with all natural ingredients that will eventually result in a happy, healthy family.
In 1971, when Barbara started our company, the Bay Area was buzzing with young people full of a desire to express their love for all people.
The world was changing daily as they created their own paths and sought to turn others onto new directions.
Barbara, then 17, found her calling in real food and opened a small natural bakery in Northern California.
She had a simple plan—make wholesome food taste incredibly delicious. Inspired by good health, family, and the kitchen table as the cornerstones of the good life, she used whole grains and oats just as nature intended—free from anything artificial.
Barbara selected her ingredients carefully to allow vital vitamins and minerals to do their best to impart their healthy benefits.
The bakery exceeded her wildest dreams and grew from a storefront start-up to a thriving wholesale business. Since those first loaves more than 40 years ago, our product offerings have grown to include cereals, snack bars, cookies, crackers, and cheese puffs.
Today, a few of us wish we still wore flowers in our hair like Barbara did.
