10,000 IU/day is necessary for optimal health

Vitamin D controls a large number of processes in the human body. Lack of vitamin D won't lead to a complete breakdown of your body, but this fact hides the true potential of vitamin D. Low vitamin D levels would under natural circumstances be associated with the Winter season, which is time of hardship. With limited food sources available, you would not want to waste energy on maintaining your body in a state on maximum fitness, and let the immune system check out every possible threat, however remote that threat may be. High vitamin D levels corresponds to the Spring and Summer; with more food sources available during that time of year, it is advantageous to spend more energy to maintain the body in optimal form.
Since we have plenty to eat regardless of the time of year, we need to overrule this archaic mechanism. The question is then what dose of vitamin D to use. The body reaches a state of dynamical equilibrium between production and destruction of vitamin D in less than an hour in the Summer, with a net amount of between 10,0000 and 20,000 IU being produced. It takes about a day for the body to remove this vitamin D from the skin and convert it to calcidiol in the liver. Our ancestors were hunter gatherers who used to be outside all day long, so they would reliably get more than 10,000 IU/day every single day.
Clearly, then, the body is designed by evolution to interpet 10,000 IU/day as an all clear signal. Calcidiol levels will typically reach 220 nmol/l at this dose. This is therefore what everyone should aim for and this product is the best way to achieve this.

Great product for the money. I have been taking 4 of the 10,000 IU softgels once a week. My blood test came back 54 ng/ml. I'm very satisfied with the results. My mother has crohn's disease and is 80 years of age. She currently has been taking 10,000 IU every day and her blood test came back 50ng/ml. We have both been taking the procduct for eight months at the above dosages before we had blood work done. My psoriasis is gone and her crohns disease is in remision.
Ask your physician for the 25 hydroxy vitamin d test and get your blood level to the 50 ng/ml. Awesome product for the money. Take as directed, and know your vitamin d blood level. Most will be able to maintain it taking 5,000 IU per day. Don't ever take above 10,000 IU long term until you know your blood calcium levels and your vitamin d levels. Their is no benefit above 50 ng/ml in any documented case. Lifeguards in the sun will be at 50 ng/ml without any supplements.

I was given the option, by my physician, to take 50,000iu of Vitamin D weekly or 10,000 units daily. Not knowing that this strength was available OTC, I elected to try the 50,000 iu. I have insurance, but it cost $1 per pill. A search on the internet brought me to this product and found I could get a 1 year supply for $20. I noticed my skin improving within one week of starting the Vitamin D and generalized aches and pains eased as well. My son started taking it too and his teen age acne is vitually gone.
Highly recommended - a repeat serum Vitamin D level in another month will be the true test.

Many people underestimate the power of Vitamin D despite the fact it's not truly a vitamin. Anyway just research this and you will understand.
Many call this the SUN Vitamin and almost 90% of the world lack it greatly which results in sickness of different sorts.
In the days of old, the Governments of that time desided to change Vitamin D from grams to IU (International Units) because people were not getting sick all that much if at all. They named the units IU with large numbers to give the impression that it's a lot. For instance, what sounds like a lot, 1,000 IU or 0.25g? They did this so people can underdose with the Vitamin to increase sickness and push for synthetic pharmacy drugs upon people.
Personally everybody should be taking minimum 80,000 to 120,000 IU of Vitamin D3 every single day. There's evidence that helps cure and prevent diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes etc. The same goes for Coral Calcium as it's linked to prevent and cure Cancer. Anyway this is from my personal research, just do your DD and enjoy this fabulous product...

I am taking this strength on my Dr.'s recommendation. I felt a drastic improvement in my energy levels and muscle aches. My transaction with mynaturalmarket.com was EXCELLENT!!!! I called about the size of the capsule and the rep (very courteous and professional) was not sure but offered to go and check for me. I declined of course but I was impressed. As far as these vitamins are concerned. These don\'t use soybean oil as a carrier which is a HUGE plus for anyone that knows the GMO truth behind soy.

These only took ONE WEEK to arrive - marvellous service!
I cannot buy Vitamin D at this strength here in New Zealand. I tried these when I went to the U.K. last year - and they have made a tremendous difference to how I feel.
I take 6 of these (60,000 i.u.) per day (plus other supplements).
My aches and pains have disappeared - as have most of the symptoms of arthritis. My teeth have improved (the dentist really can't understand why) for the first time in decades. I am not on any medication. My partner also takes these at the same dosage (along with Chromium Picolinate and fish oil tabs) - and his symptoms of diabetes Type 2 have gone. He is off all his medication and he feels better than he has for a long time.
