I use to forget things like names. When I take Prevagen that doesn't happen. It worked for me. One day I didn't take it and could defintely notice a difference.

I'm an RN and started taking Prevagen because I noticed I was having problems remembering the words at the end of my sentences and names. I noticed a difference pretty quickly and don't have much of a problem with these things any longer. My husband takes it too. It took him a little longer to feel a difference, about 2-3 months. He says he is multitasking better now. I noticed he can remember numbers quicker.

My dad is older but is a very active man. He does a lot of volunteer work and still work 2 days a week. He has had some health issues in the past, some issues with this brain. I suggested he take Prevagen and got approval from his doctor. He started awhile back and a saw a marked improvment in his speech and memory. It is defintely worth trying.

2 weeks - no results

I used it for two weeks, but so far I cannot tell the difference.
Perhaps it's accumulative effect that will take little longer. I
am willing to give it a try, since I purchased 2 bottles.
This survey would not accept a rating without stars, so I will
have to put 1 for now. When I see a difference I will be happy
to review it. Thank you.

I had a severe car accident that gave me a head injury where I could not remember things at all and Prevagen sounded exactly like what I needed. After about a month, month-and-a-half I started noticing that I was recalling things much easier, things that I hadn’t before.

Prevagen looked like the best thing out there, and to my surprise it really was! Prevagen really came through for me. With Prevagen you get your mental sharpness back, you get your confidence back; you’re going to feel better all the way around.

Thanks so much for the Prevagen. My mother who is 91 years old is recovering from memory lapse and not being able to sleep (i.e. recovering via using Prevagen). My father is 93 years old, also started taking the Prevagen, amazing results. He is so relaxed.

My father is 84. He is a very active man. He does a lot of volunteer work and works 2 days a week. He likes to keep his brain active and always does the cryptogram and sudoku puzzles in the daily newspaper. He has had a couple of severe health issues. Recovery has been pretty good but he was having problems with speech... trying to find the right word .... I suggested he take Prevagen but my mother was a little leery of adding to his long list of meds... however she got approval from their primary doctor to take it (the doc told them to go ahead and try it but when it didn't work to come back to him and he would prescribe something better...) He started taking Prevagen in December 2009 and we saw a marked improvement in his speech and memory and also in his energy levels... (In addition to the Prevagen, I also provide ubiquinol and omega 3 supplements for my parents).

While this product may contain good ingredients to help with memory loss, it also contains the deadly poison called magnesium stearate, which is a hyrogenated oil, or trans fat, already outlawed by the FDA in all food products. Since the health food industry is not regulated, it is now adding this deadly ingredient to most vitamin/supplement products, much to our health detriment. It is unacceptable that a medical doctor, who should know better, is advertising to help us while at the same time adding this toxic ingredient as a filler so he can sell more product with less product in the bottle. This is a terrible trend happening across the board in our vitamin supplement industry. It is a disgrace and a huge disservice to all of us. Do not buy any product that uses the fillers (to make less for more) magnesium stearate or silicon dioxide ( a packaging ingredient used in shoes, and other packaging to keep products dry; it is labelled "do not eat" as it is poisonous to the human body). Please, please, read the ingredients for all these products and do not support the doctors who are selling us toxic products under the guise that they are medical doctors. Medical doctors know the least about good nutrition as they only study pharmacology and drugs, and certainly no studies devoted to nutrition in their medical programs.

It is very well known that the loss of calcium-binding proteins is the main problem in memory disorders. The technology in Prevagen was developed by a biotech company in Madison, WI that looks very legit to me. I take it daily, and my brain is "cruising".

Research on Prevagen

There are several studies demonstrating Prevagen’s effectiveness. The memory study was double-blind and placebo-controlled and had 218 participants demonstrating that Prevagen significantly improves cognitive function in people with memory problems. The findings were presented to the world’s leading Alzheimer’s researchers during the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) in Paris. Pharmacokinetic testing demonstrates that the active ingredient within Prevagen is present (when administered orally) in both blood plasma and cerebrospinal fluid demonstrating the protein’s ability to get through the gastrointestinal system along with the blood-brain barrier. In addition, the clinical trial results certainly indicate the improvements seen with Prevagen that are happening within the brain and/or nervous system. EDTA is used in the food products we eat every day, including some baby foods, and is approved by the FDA and USDA for this use. In addition there exist only trace amounts of EDTA in Prevagen as it is only used in the purification process and not added as an “active” ingredient.

When I first started Prevagen I began having tiny flashes of memory from years ago I had forgotten. I didn't relate this to Prevagen at first but as the flashes of memory became more vivid I realized the thoughts were of real life experiences from the past. This made me very happy. I use to start a sentence and then forget the word I needed to finish the thought or sentence. Now I feel more confident because the words are there. Prevagen has improved my memory, focus and thought process. I sleep much better and another benefit I found with Prevagen is my migraines are gone. I say thank you to Quincy Bioscience. I recommend this product to everyone.

Having a degree in biochemistry, it's my opinion that Prevagen does almost nothing more than the placebo effect. Disregarding the sketchy clinical trials cited, the active ingredient is a protein compound (Aequorin) that gets broken down upon digestion into its component amino acids. While Aequorin certainly does bind calcium, even if it did survive digestion it is unlikely to pass the blood-brain barrier and is more likely to bind calcium in the body first. At best it is a dose of protein and, by the looks of the other ingredients, EDTA, which is known to chelate (ie., bind) calcium and other metal ions like iron. This could probably pass the blood-brain barried, however higher doses of EDTA (2 g/kg) are known to be toxic to lab rats and the quantity of EDTA in Prevagen is unreported. If the purported effects of Prevagen work as a placebo for you or your loved one, by all means, continue. Though in my opinion the best way to promote healthy brain function is through intake of omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oils. These have been rigorously proven to lower risks of depression, suicide, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, psoriasis, and even benefit pregnancies. These essential oils (EPA and DHA, specifically) can be taken as pills as well but do look for organic, ethically-farmed products.

I am a 62 yr old grandma and wife. My husband and I took Prevagen for 3 months and neither of us could honestly say it helped our memory. We expected good results because I am a faithful watcher of Know The Cause. We have been on the Phase One Diet for 9 months and it sure has helped us with more energy. I am so dissapointed that the Prevagen did not work for us because as you get older, memory loss is very important. We went back to taking the Ginko Biloba hoping it will keep our memory from getting worse. Ginko is much cheaper and I see not reason to waste money on Prevagen.
