Reviva Labs Facial Cleanser Brighten & Lighten Description

  • A Most Unusual Facial Cleanser
  • Deep Cleanses as it Helps Brighten the Complexion
  • For All Skin Types
  • No Animal Testing

Now as we leave skin deeply cleansed, we can also brighten the complexion and help even out skin tone and lighten dark flaws. This facial cleanser features whitening ingredients like mulberry, lime, kojic acid, and vitamin C ester supported by mildly exfoliating lactic acid and corn meal. Even though this unprecedented cleansing formula is particularly benefi cial for those with uneven skin tone or discoloration, any skin type & ndash dry or oily & ndash will enjoy its deeper-than-standard cleansing action and complexionbrightening, clarifying action. Kojic acid is produced by several varieties of fungi, and is a by-product of the fermentation process of malting rice – used in the manufacture of the Japanese rice wine, sake. It is used in cosmetics to lighten skin by inhibiting or interrupting the skin's production of melanin. The production of melanin is what determines skin pigmentation.

Melanin production is mainly determined by genetics, but can vary due to the body's response to both internal and external factors. Pregnancy hormones, stress, sun exposure, and inflammation can all cause increased melanin production. Kojic acid interferes with melanin production, helping to lighten the skin. Kojic acid is also known for its antioxidant, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. Kojic acid has been used increasingly as a replacement for hydroquinone. Hydroquinone, while an effective skin lightening agent, can be irritating to some skin types.

Lactic Acid is a powerful alpha hydroxy acid, commonly derived from milk, as well as fruits, vegetables, and other plants. It is commonly believed to be more "gentle" than glycolic acid, while still providing effective exfoliation. Lactic acid works by helping to slough off the outer "dead or damaged" layer of skin cells, speeding up the rate of cell turn over, and helping to diminish common skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne and skin discoloration. It also hydrates the skin, and increases natural barrier lipids in the outer layer of the skin.
When using lactic acid, or any alpha hydrocy acid, skin is more sensitive to the sun, so it's even more important to protect your skin by using broad-spectrum sun protection – or avoiding sun exposure.

Directions

Apply cleanser to skin with damp hands and massage in gently and slowly with fi ngertips. Lifts away makeup, dirt, and debris. Rinse off with lukewarm water (or remove with moistened cotton pad), and fi nish with cool water. Follow with skin toner of your choice.
